Members should receive their bill by the 15th of each month. MEC cannot predict the postal service turnaround time from the time MEC sends the bill until you receive it. There are options for members to view their bill sooner. Members can receive their bill via email just by signing up for paperless billing. Members can also view their bill and usage by signing up for SmartHub.
Members can find the specific date payment is due on their bill. Payment is due on the 3rd of each month.
If you are having troubles paying your bill by the due date, just give us a call at 701-444-9288. One of our representatives will work with you on an acceptable arrangement.
The member and/or third party designated by the member shall be notified in writing, sent by certificate of mailing, of the proposed disconnection of service. The written notice will indicate the amount that must be paid by a specific date in order to avoid disconnection.
In the event the member has more than one account, ALL electric services are subject to disconnection if one account is delinquent.
Simply call us at 701-444-9288 and speak to a member service representative. If you choose not to call and set up an acceptable payment arrangement your account can be disconnected without further notice.
If your power is disconnected due to non-payment, you will be required to pay your bill in full plus the disconnect fee of $60.00, and accrued facilities charges, and any additional security deposits assessed prior to your service being restored.
If a member has made payment arrangements to avoid disconnection and has failed to make those payments, service will be disconnected without further notice.
If payment is not received by the close of business on the 3rd, a 1.50% per month penalty is assessed on the unpaid balance.
MEC offers several options for your convenience. If you do not prefer mailing your payment; members are always welcome to drop off their payment in person, stop by the drop box or drive-thru window located at the MEC headquarters. Another option is paying online through SmartHub. SmartHub can be accessed by computer, smartphone or tablet. Member's can also submit a one-time "Pay Now" payment using their account number and their last name or business name. Lastly, just give us a call and a member services representative will take payment over the phone with a Visa or Mastercard.
This simple, easy and convenient option can be set up through our autopay program. If you sign up for autopay using your checking account (account and routing numbers required), Visa or Mastercard we will give you a one-time $10 bill credit.
